OUR why

Our logo is comprised of the Fleur De Lis and three different symbols. Each symbol represents a goal that our non-profit organization is aiming to achieve. Take a look below at the different goals. If you would like to volunteer to be apart of helping us reach our goals, please click the #VolunteerKrewe button below!

Wheelchair

DAUPHIN ISLAND BEACH ACCESS MAT

The wheelchair in the fleur de lis is significant because our desire is to make it possible for inclusion in recreation for all members of special needs families- this includes access to beaches, playgrounds, wheelchair racing, and other opportunities for families and individuals with special needs to be involved with PLAY!

Adaptive Athletics

Several families in our area have come together to support the sport of wheelchair athletics. We have supported racers in area races as well as national races. We look forward to sharing this passion with new athletes, as we believe that staying active is the key to a long and healthy life.

Needle & Thread

The needle and thread in the fleur de Lis are significant because we founded and support a service project for USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital. This organization is run by our Junior Committee of KOK and is dedicated to helping kids feel better to heal better. While other great organizations focus on research and finding a cure, we work to improve the quality of life of children and their families as they undergo treatment. The Krewe aims to keep the pillowcases stocked for USA Children's and Women's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House. We will also have at least quarterly sew dates at the hospital where we sew with the patients and family members as part of the Child Life's distraction therapy program. We partner with local FACS classrooms to gather donations for our program.

The paw print in the fleur de lis is significant because Krewe of Kindness would like to team up with pet therapy programs with our background in veterinary medicine to help bring joy to patients in the hospital with pet therapy programs. We also would like to work with canine assistance programs in Alabama to help provide assistance to those needing a service dog.
